Renew Your Postal Vote

  • Local News

As part of new electoral regulations introduced in the Elections Act 2022, there is now a limit on how long a postal vote can remain valid. Under these rules, which came into effect on 31st October 2023, postal votes are now valid for up to three years before they must be renewed.

Voters who applied for a postal vote before 31st October 2023 will have their postal vote expire on 31st January 2026. To continue voting by post after that date, voters will need to submit a new application.

Local authorities are now contacting voters whose postal votes are due to expire, with details on how to renew. If you receive a letter or email from your local council, please follow the instructions promptly to avoid any disruption to your ability to vote.

Details about renewing your postal vote in the Bradford District can be found here: www.bradford.gov.uk/your-council/elections-and-voting/voting-by-post/
